FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

What is SPECTER?

SPECTER is a software package for optical design and analysis. It allows users to build three-dimensional virtual models of optical devices and simulate optical phenomena for the models in the given conditions. See general description of SPECTER for more information.

How much is SPECTER?

The price of SPECTER varies depending on configuration, support and training options. Please contact our salesperson via the contact form for pricing.

Where can I buy SPECTER?

You can buy SPECTER directly from Integra or from our authorized distributors worldwide. Unfortunately, you can’t purchase SPECTER at retail stores. You can find the distributors near you on our distributor list page. For more information about purchasing, please contact us via the contact form.

Do you have a trial version of SPECTER?

We are not offering a trial version of SPECTER. Instead, we offer a free trial simulation for customers who are considering purchasing SPECTER. See this page for information about the trial simulation.

Can I ask you to perform a simulation as a trial?

Yes. We are pleased to perform a trial simulation using our software product. You can find information about the trial simulation on this page.

Do you have special prices for academic and educational institutes?

Yes. We have special discounts for academic and educational institutes. Please contact our salesperson via the contact form for details about pricing and conditions.

How much is the annual maintenance fee?

We provide you one year free maintenance after you have obtained a SPECTER license. After the first year, we offer an annual maintenance fee if you wish to continue a subscription of the maintenance by Integra or by our distributors. For price of the annual maintenance fee, please contact our salesperson via the contact form.

What is the difference between SPECTER and INSPIRER?

SPECTER is built based on the technologies used in INSPIRER and has all functionalities of INSPIRER. In addition to the INSPIRER functionalities, SPECTER furnishes special functionalities dedicated to optical simulations. Those special functionalities include powerful interrogation tools, microstructure forming, parametric modeling, volume scattering and wave effect supports.

When did you start to market SPECTER?

We started to market SPECTER in 1993 to satisfy customer's needs of using computer simulation for the design and analysis of diffusive optical systems. Then, SPECTER has been gradually expanded for more than a decade to satisfy various needs in optical design and analysis.

What are the system requirements?

You can find information about the system requirements on System Requirements.

Do you have floating license option?

Yes. The Floating License (also called network license or concurrent license) allows you to install as many SPECTER copies as you wish and share the license by users on a single network of computers. For example, if a 2-user Floating License is purchased and 10 copies of SPECTER are installed on the network, only 2 users from 10 will be able to run the application at the same time.
